Will-writing Seminar

My friend, Norman, invited me and my dad to this will-writing seminar yesterday... It was a very informative seminar organised by AXA to educate us about the purpose and the legal complications of having a will in place... Just to share some information I gained from the seminar.

A will is a legal document which sets out clearly how you intend to distribute your assets. Without one, in the event of passing onm law will come in to distribute your assets, based on the rules of intestacy (principles of equity).

The advantages of having a will are as such:
- easier to process to obtain Grant of Probate from the courts
- appointment of executors and trustees of will
- freedom to give away your assets
- executors do not need to post sureties (deposit with court before access to assets)
- appoint guardians for your minor children
- avoid unhappy conflicts from arising

Just to share with you all what Ive learnt from the seminar. Besides the legal aspects of will writing, I realise how fragile life can be. Will can come in as your 'last words' or messages to your loved ones. Because there is someone out there that you love, that's why you'll feel it's important to have a will in place so that there will not be too many complications that may arise after you pass-on.

Well, life is certainly very short. May we live each day as if it's our last and live it to it's fullest!
