Busy busy busy...

Life's been really busy for us these days, but still fun & we're enjoying married life! =)

The past long weekend had been v eventful. On Sat, I went to Batam with my ex-colleagues from Forbes, did some shopping, had some seafood. Then, I've gotta leave earlier and rush back for Zonghe's colleague's wedding dinner at Grand Hyatt Hotel - the jam on the roads were terrible, Zonghe drove for a v long time to fetch me from harbour front and getting to Orchard...

We sent our brother off to the ferry terminal for his trip to Bintan on Sunday early morning and we decided to go to the wet market to buy some fresh products to cook up some dishes back home. =) In the evening, we went to visit our relatives at Jurong West area. Some of them came visiting from M'sia. We had dinner together before coming home.

Monday was housework day and we spent the morning tidying up the house, vacuuming & mopping the floor, washing the bedsheets, etc... In the afternoon, Zonghe sent me down to Chinatown where I met up with my family for KTV! =) Zonghe's not keen on KTV, so didn't join us. Nonetheless, Zonghe came by to meet us for dinner at Gorsk's place. We even played Wii together after dinner. It's really fun to be with the family.

That was our long weekend. Very busy but very enjoyable weekend.

Christmas is coming soon, it's the season to think about all our friends, perhaps write them a simple card and keeping in touch... May the festive season be filled with love, peace and joy! =)

Leehom's Music Man Concert - 1 Nov 2008

Attended Leehom's concert last night. It was a really amazing concert. Leehom was simply amazing and charming! =) So mesmerised by his performance- his singing, him playing his guitar, the violin & the piano too.

He performed his all time favourites and also some songs from his upcoming album. The whole night was filled with so much fun & excitement.

After the concert, Zonghe fetched Jiamin & I from the Indoor Stadium and we went to Pasir Ris Chalet to meet up with Zonghe's band friends. We played wii & majong till about 3am before heading home. Super fun night! =)

Wow, my last posting was in August 08! It's been 2 months since I wrote something on my blog.

A quick summary of my past 2 months:

Advance Open Water Course

Over the last weekend, Zonghe & I (together with Mike) went to Pulau Aur with Friendly Waters to do our Advance Open Waters Certification.

Learning to do advance was a tough decision for me, because my confidence level towards diving was not that high yet and taking a big step to do Advance Open Waters was a really big step for me. =) Nonetheless, everything went well for us and we'd a really good time. =) Learnt a lot more about diving, the techniques, new skills and new experiences.

Saturday:

We left on Friday night (as usual) and arrived at Pulau Aur at about 4am in the morning. The journey was very smooth.

Our morning started, after a good night's rest in the lodge, at about 9am. Our first dive was about 9.30am after breakfast. It was a cloudy morning, so the visibility was not too good. Nonetheless, right after we hit the waters, we saw a trail of squids swim pass. We even saw a stingray chasing behind the squids. It was really cool. They were small, and quite far away, but could see the stingray 'flap' as it swam away.

First dive we took it easy, we learnt to navigate using the compass and tried deploying our SMB (surface marker buoy). Didn't manage to deploy it properly, could only blow like 20-30% of air into it only. =( Zonghe did quite well, about 40-50% full. ;)

The second dive of the day was after lunch, about 1.30pm. It had started to rain and was getting cold. The second dive, we did a nitrox dive. We learnt how to check the air content in the tanks and calculate the maximum depth we can go with the Nitrox 32 mix. Also, we reprogrammed our dive computers to take into account the different tank we are using. Second dive was completed smoothly. We saw lionfish & nudibranch.

The third dive was after our donut break at about 5.30pm. It was a nice evening dive at 'The Pinacles'. We had to do a quick descend so that we won't drift too far out and miss the dive site. We managed to do that and we got to the dive site. It was amazing, a lot of corals grown on the pinacle and we even followed Dave, our dive master, to swim through some of the 'caves' and look at the corals and fish inside these caves. Zonghe & I though that this was rather unusual and probably not a commonly explored dive site because everything seemed untouched and pretty. Once again, I couldn't deploy my SMB correctly, it's about 40% full this time, Zonghe could deploy it well. ;)

The rain continued and it was really cold when we got back onto the boat... After the third dive, we were all rather exhausted. After a short rest, (and after much deliberation), I decided to join Zonghe & Mike for the night dive. It's the second time for Zonghe & Mike, but my first time, so I was rather kan chong, cos diving in the day already quite 'tough' for me, what more at night. Nonetheless, I decided to give it a go. =)

Night dive was an amazing feeling. Basically, I held on to Zonghe's hand the entire dive. It felt just like normal dive, but only thing is that we see a lot of divers around us and their bright beam of light. Both Zonghe & I had a torch each and we explored the sea at night together. Mainly, a lot of the fishes are asleep at night. We saw a parrot fish hiding inside a coral, fast asleep. We were wondering how it got itself inside the coral, super power. haha. We also saw a puffer fish, sound asleep (Zonghe took a close up photo of it, below). And a big fish. It was asleep too, but woken up by another diver who took a close up picture of it. =) It was quite big. haha.

The corals are really beautiful too. It showed it's original colour through the light shone by the torch. We dived at the house reef, to and fro the same path. There wasn't much current, so it was an easy swim. [Don't need to deploy SMB, haha...]

We got back at about 8.30pm, had a good shower and nice BBQ dinner. =) I was so tired that I went back to the room to sleep at about 10pm. Zonghe n Mike came up to the room only at about midnight. =)

Sunday:

The first dive was the most important dive- the deep dive (one of the certification dive). We went to 'Reiner's Rock' at about 7am. We had to do a quick descend to about 20m. The dive profile is 15 mins 20 m, then 10 mins 30m, then shallow off. Bottom time about 25-30 mins. At the start of the dive, we descend v deep to about 25m, it was all dark and gloomy all around, because the sky was cloudy, sunlight could not penetrate so deep into the water. The feeling was quite scary.

We swim for a while, then I suddenly didn't feel that good. I was breathing very heavily and heart beating very fast. I signaled to Zonghe that I wasn't feeling so good. He told me that if we can abort the dive and return to surface. I thought about it for a while, then the dive master (Dave) came over to see me, after noticing that I didn't look good. He pulled me to the front and asked me to kneel down in front of this cave. I was puzzled, but after he shone his torch into the cave, I understood why. There were 3 sharks (baby sharks) inside the cave. We were diving at 'Shark Point'. Almost immediately, I felt better. After that, I was ok already, could continue the dive. I wouldn't know what would have happened to me (or our dive) if not for the sharks.

At the debrief, Dave told me that probably the anxiety, stress and apprehension of doing deep dive caused me to be overly anxious (& weaken my mental health). Moreover, exertion from fighting the current and keeping up with the group might have caused a strain on my physical health. The dark surrounding & exertion (breathing too rapidly and retaining too much CO2 in the body) might have put a strained on me. After resting a while at shark point, probably helped me recover my physical health and then my mental health.

The visibility was so low that though there were only 7 of us. Dave was in front & Zonghe n I were all the way behind, but I cannot see Dave clearly. Dave was very nice to turn around from time to time to signal an 'O' with his torch - to ask if I was ok. And I will reply him with a light signal - also an 'O'. Yupz, the deep dive went well and it should be a pass. =) Though my SMB still 'lembek lembek' (A Malay term meaning limp, flaccid or physically weak.)

Still cannot deploy it properly, about 50-60% full of air when it comes up to the surface. (So hard to blow into the valve. And I get outta breath and gotta suck another mouth full from my regulator. Holding the slightly inflated SMB in my hand, I naturally floated up with it. I took another try at the valve- 2nd mouth full, then released it. Zonghe swam up to me and held me down - in case I also get 'deployed' up to the surface. haha...) Zonghe got better & better at deploying the SMB, could perform it well everytime.

The second dive and the final dive was at about 10am after breakfast. It was a relatively easy dive at the house reef. We went out for about 40 mins bottom time. It was the only dive that I came back with 30 bars of air left (full tank = 200 bars). Most of the dive, I'm either left with 0 or 15 bars. Oops... Cos after we surface, we should still keep the regulator in the mouth. =)

In the final dive, we saw another lionfish. This time, Zonghe managed to take a front view of the lionfish- usually it shows their tail & colourful fins only. There were quite a bit of sea anemone and nudibranch too. ;) My final try at deploying the SMB. But still didn't managed to get it done properly. =( Sigh... Dunno how to blow it well lah. A lot of 'leaked' air... wasted. haha...

We left the island at about 11.30am after packing our lunch from the lodge. =) We got back to Singapore, Riverwalk at about 8pm. We went to have dinner together (3 of us) at Manhatten Fish Market, then home sweet home. =)

What a wonderful weekend. =) Love doing things together with Zonghe. He's always so loving, supportive and encouraging. =) Thank you dear! =) Couldn't have accomplished so much without you! =) L!

'Life and How to Survive It'

I must say thank you to the faculty and staff of the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information for inviting me to give your convocation address. It’s a wonderful honour and a privilege for me to speak here for ten minutes without fear of contradiction, defamation or retaliation. I say this as a Singaporean and more so as a husband.

My wife is a wonderful person and perfect in every way except one. She is the editor of a magazine. She corrects people for a living. She has honed her expert skills over a quarter of a century, mostly by practising at home during conversations between her and me.

On the other hand, I am a litigator. Essentially, I spend my day telling people how wrong they are. I make my living being disagreeable.

Nevertheless, there is perfect harmony in our matrimonial home. That is because when an editor and a litigator have an argument, the one who triumphs is always the wife.

And so I want to start by giving one piece of advice to the men: when you’ve already won her heart, you don’t need to win every argument.

Marriage is considered one milestone of life. Some of you may already be married. Some of you may never be married. Some of you will be married. Some of you will enjoy the experience so much, you will be married many, many times. Good for you.

The next big milestone in your life is today: your graduation. The end of education. You’re done learning.

You’ve probably been told the big lie that “Learning is a lifelong process” and that therefore you will continue studying and taking masters’ degrees and doctorates and professorships and so on. You know the sort of people who tell you that? Teachers. Don’t you think there is some measure of conflict of interest? They are in the business of learning, after all. Where would they be without you? They need you to be repeat customers.

The good news is that they’re wrong.

The bad news is that you don’t need further education because your entire life is over. It is gone. That may come as a shock to some of you. You’re in your teens or early twenties. People may tell you that you will live to be 70, 80, 90 years old. That is your life expectancy.

I love that term: life expectancy. We all understand the term to mean the average life span of a group of people. But I’m here to talk about a bigger idea, which is what you expect from your life.

You may be very happy to know that Singapore is currently ranked as the country with the third highest life expectancy. We are behind Andorra and Japan, and tied with San Marino. It seems quite clear why people in those countries, and ours, live so long. We share one thing in common: our football teams are all hopeless. There’s very little danger of any of our citizens having their pulses raised by watching us play in the World Cup. Spectators are more likely to be lulled into a gentle and restful nap.

Singaporeans have a life expectancy of 81.8 years. Singapore men live to an average of 79.21 years, while Singapore women live more than five years longer, probably to take into account the additional time they need to spend in the bathroom.

So here you are, in your twenties, thinking that you’ll have another 40 years to go. Four decades in which to live long and prosper.

Bad news. Read the papers. There are people dropping dead when they’re 50, 40, 30 years old. Or quite possibly just after finishing their convocation. They would be very disappointed that they didn’t meet their life expectancy.

I’m here to tell you this. Forget about your life expectancy.

After all, it’s calculated based on an average. And you never, ever want to expect being average.

Revisit those expectations. You might be looking forward to working, falling in love, marrying, raising a family. You are told that, as graduates, you should expect to find a job paying so much, where your hours are so much, where your responsibilities are so much.

That is what is expected of you. And if you live up to it, it will be an awful waste. If you expect that, you will be limiting yourself. You will be living your life according to boundaries set by average people. I have nothing against average people. But no one should aspire to be them. And you don’t need years of education by the best minds in Singapore to prepare you to be average.

What you should prepare for is mess. Life’s a mess. You are not entitled to expect anything from it. Life is not fair. Everything does not balance out in the end. Life happens, and you have no control over it. Good and bad things happen to you day by day, hour by hour, moment by moment. Your degree is a poor armour against fate.

Don’t expect anything. Erase all life expectancies. Just live. Your life is over as of today. At this point in time, you have grown as tall as you will ever be, you are physically the fittest you will ever be in your entire life and you are probably looking the best that you will ever look. This is as good as it gets. It is all downhill from here. Or up. No one knows.

What does this mean for you? It is good that your life is over. Since your life is over, you are free. Let me tell you the many wonderful things that you can do when you are free. The most important is this: do not work.

Work is anything that you are compelled to do. By its very nature, it is undesirable.

Work kills. The Japanese have a term “Karoshi”, which means death from overwork. That’s the most dramatic form of how work can kill. But it can also kill you in more subtle ways. If you work, then day by day, bit by bit, your soul is chipped away, disintegrating until there’s nothing left. A rock has been ground into sand and dust.

There’s a common misconception that work is necessary. You will meet people working at miserable jobs. They tell you they are “making a living”. No, they’re not. They’re dying, frittering away their fast-extinguishing lives doing things which are, at best, meaningless and, at worst, harmful.

People will tell you that work ennobles you, that work lends you a certain dignity. Work makes you free. The slogan 'Arbeit macht frei' was placed at the entrances to a number of Nazi concentration camps. Utter nonsense.

Do not waste the vast majority of your life doing something you hate so that you can spend the small remainder sliver of your life in modest comfort. You may never reach that end anyway.

Resist the temptation to get a job. Instead, play. Find something you enjoy doing. Do it. Over and over again. You will become good at it for two reasons: you like it, and you do it often. Soon, that will have value in itself.

I like arguing, and I love language. So, I became a litigator. I enjoy it and I would do it for free. If I didn’t do that, I would’ve been in some other type of work that still involved writing fiction – probably a sports journalist.

So what should you do? You will find your own niche. I don’t imagine you will need to look very hard. By this time in your life, you will have a very good idea of what you will want to do. In fact, I’ll go further and say the ideal situation would be that you will not be able to stop yourself pursuing your passions. By this time you should know what your obsessions are. If you enjoy showing off your knowledge and feeling superior, you might become a teacher.

Find that pursuit that will energise you, consume you, become an obsession. Each day, you must rise with a restless enthusiasm. If you don’t, you are working.

Most of you will end up in activities which involve communication. To those of you I have a second message: be wary of the truth. I’m not asking you to speak it, or write it, for there are times when it is dangerous or impossible to do those things. The truth has a great capacity to offend and injure, and you will find that the closer you are to someone, the more care you must take to disguise or even conceal the truth. Often, there is great virtue in being evasive, or equivocating. There is also great skill. Any child can blurt out the truth, without thought to the consequences. It takes great maturity to appreciate the value of silence.

In order to be wary of the truth, you must first know it. That requires great frankness to yourself. Never fool the person in the mirror.

I have told you that your life is over, that you should not work, and that you should avoid telling the truth. I now say this to you: be hated.

It’s not as easy as it sounds. Do you know anyone who hates you? Yet every great figure who has contributed to the human race has been hated, not just by one person, but often by a great many. That hatred is so strong it has caused those great figures to be shunned, abused, murdered and in one famous instance, nailed to a cross.

One does not have to be evil to be hated. In fact, it’s often the case that one is hated precisely because one is trying to do right by one’s own convictions. It is far too easy to be liked, one merely has to be accommodating and hold no strong convictions. Then one will gravitate towards the centre and settle into the average. That cannot be your role. There are a great many bad people in the world, and if you are not offending them, you must be bad yourself. Popularity is a sure sign that you are doing something wrong.

The other side of the coin is this: fall in love.

I didn’t say “be loved”. That requires too much compromise. If one changes one’s looks, personality and values, one can be loved by anyone.

Rather, I exhort you to love another human being. It may seem odd for me to tell you this. You may expect it to happen naturally, without deliberation. That is false. Modern society is anti-love. We’ve taken a microscope to everyone to bring out their flaws and shortcomings. It far easier to find a reason not to love someone, than otherwise. Rejection requires only one reason. Love requires complete acceptance. It is hard work – the only kind of work that I find palatable.

Loving someone has great benefits. There is admiration, learning, attraction and something which, for the want of a better word, we call happiness. In loving someone, we become inspired to better ourselves in every way. We learn the truth worthlessness of material things. We celebrate being human. Loving is good for the soul.

Loving someone is therefore very important, and it is also important to choose the right person. Despite popular culture, love doesn’t happen by chance, at first sight, across a crowded dance floor. It grows slowly, sinking roots first before branching and blossoming. It is not a silly weed, but a mighty tree that weathers every storm.

You will find, that when you have someone to love, that the face is less important than the brain, and the body is less important than the heart.

You will also find that it is no great tragedy if your love is not reciprocated. You are not doing it to be loved back. Its value is to inspire you.

Finally, you will find that there is no half-measure when it comes to loving someone. You either don’t, or you do with every cell in your body, completely and utterly, without reservation or apology. It consumes you, and you are reborn, all the better for it.

Don’t work. Avoid telling the truth. Be hated. Love someone.

You’re going to have a busy life. Thank goodness there’s no life expectancy.

Relaxing Weekend

Last weekend was spent with my Zonghe. =)

Saturday, we went back to NUS, cos Zonghe's prof invited us over for a lunch gathering.

Sunday, we met up with Manas at Bugis Junction... We walked to Haji Lane, but the Egytian restaurant was closed, so we walked further to Kg Glam for lunch, where we sat and talked for a long while. =) Then we walked to Bugis Street for beer @ Breekos and some shopping @ Bugis Street before heading down to Sim Lim Square to buy ink cartridges. Afterwhich, we walked through the entire stretch of Serangoon Road- through Little India before arriving at 'The French Stall' where we had v yummy french food for dinner- nice juicy steak and red wine. ;) It was a really nice place to dine out without getting all dressed up for.

A new week begins...

Weekend @ Pulau Aur

Zonghe & I went back to Pulau Aur for our diving trip over the past weekend. Along with Mike, Kat & David (who's doing advance course), we had lotsa fun there! =)

We left on Friday evening abt 7.30pm at GE Building for the bus pick up- the bus was packed! There were abt 18 Open Water Learners on board too. And another group of leisure divers like us.

We arrived in the jetty at abt midnight and the ferry took abt 4hrs, reaching Aur at about 4.30am. Lights out at about 5am and we woke up the next morning at about 9am. =)

After a nice breakfast at the Diver's Lodge, we went out for our first dive at abt 10am. Lunch was served after the dive... yummy roasted chicken w sambal chili, cucumber, carrot n corn. =) We went for our second dive after lunch at about 1.30pm.

Donuts were served for tea break. Yummy donuts freshly made... We ate it w peanut butter n also hershey's chocolate sauce. ;) Sinful! ;)

Third dive and the last for Sat was at about 5pm.

Zonghe went for night dive at about 7.45pm- pitch black. I didn't go for it, cos not prepared for night dive yet. Didn't bring along a dive torch either. Zh borrowed one from Mike.

Dinner was BBQ seafood n chicken n all. =) We ate together at abt 9pm after the night divers come back at 8.45pm. All went for night dive except Kat n I.

We spent the night playing 'Saboteur' in the room and lights out at about midnight too.

The next morning we've to wake up at 6.30am cos first dive at 7am.

The current was v strong for the first dive, so we aborted dive and went back to rest and have breakfast. The second dive for Sunday was at 9.30am.

We left the island (with our packed nasi lemak) at about 12.30pm. Bye Bye Aur...

After a nice nap on the boat (Samudera) we arrived at the jetty at about 5pm. Stopping over for a short break, we boarded the coach at about 5.30pm and left for Singapore.

We reached the RiverWalk at about 9pm at night. Had dinner then home sweet home. =)

Tiring but v fun weekend! =)

Happy Weekend!

Weekend has passed, so quickly... But it was a funfilled weekend... Here's what we did:

Saturday

Woke up early to go to the wet market together. Bought a lot of fresh food for the BBQ at night. We bought lotsa prawns, fish, chicken, pork and also mutton. =) Then we went to NTUC to buy lotsa fruits- grapes, strawberries, cherries,etc... =)

Then Zonghe's mum cooked her famous Mutton Rendang and fry bee hoon for the evening. Zonghe's dad invited his colleagues over for the gathering & also my family over to visit us. =)

Zonghe & I (plus Zongneng & Liyan), we were busy BBQ-ing for everyone. There was a light drizzle so the party moved back upstairs. We continued cooking downstairs. =) It was fun & everyone loved the food we cooked. haha...

We ended the evening playing cards together- Saboteur & also this add-up-to-99 card game. There were the 4 of us + my brother (who stayed over) & Uncle Daniel's daughters- Jazlyn & Shenise (hope I got the spelling rite)...

Shacked out for the night, but it was fun! =)

Sunday

Zonghe's parents drove into Malaysia- sending our granduncle, who was in Singapore, home. We cleaned up the house - vacuumed & mopped the floor, wash the kitchen & iron the clothes. =) It's fun to do housework together with Zonghe. =)

We went out to the NLB Book Sale at Expo together with Zongneng & Liyan. We had lunch at Malan La Mian, which was quite nice, before heading in to shop for books. =)

Zonghe & I bought 3 books (total = $6 only)- one on California (history & buildings), another book on the Artic Wolves (the author spent 10 yrs with the pack) & a book on snorkling & diving in Bali- various dive sites & specialities there. =)

Afterwhich, we took the train out with neng & liyan- we happened to bump into each other at the exit ;). They were headed to Plaza Singapura. Zonghe & I went to Bugis, shopped around Bugis Junction, and then went to Bras Basah. Afterwhich, we took a walk down Funan- get some supplies- printer ink, camera battery, etc..., then we walked down further past clarke quay area to raffles place. We went to Baikohken (details below) for Ramen (Zonghe googled for the best ramen in Singapore & found this place). After trying, we found the ramen to be really good. The soup is fresh & flavourful. The egg was nicely done & v tasty. I'd the butter & corn soup while Zonghe had the original one. =)

After dinner, we took the train home, reaching home about 8pm, exhausted, but fun. =)

Weekend back home

Zonghe accompanied me home on Sunday, at about 4pm, to spend time with my family. =) Everyone was home, Gorsk went for training at the Khatib camp, and came back around 6pm. Even Sia uncle came over to visit, and we went off to buy some durian together. =)

We'd dinner together, then we sat around in the living room with the newspapers spread on the ground & opened up the 12 durians we bought! =) All of us were eating except Gorsk & Bibsk. haha, both of them don't eat durian; the rest of us love it! =)

Our family bonding time was through board games! Drrsk, Junsk, Zonghe & I we were playing board games together - Catan, Scrabble & Saboteur (along with Gorsk & Bibsk). =) My dad joined us for 1 game (he was a saboteur & saboteur won in that round!). =)

We left close to 10pm, tired but had a v fun-filled evening with the family. The Monday Blues were kicking in a little as we headed home... haha...

But nonetheless, it's really nice to see everyone back home. =) We should do this more often! =)

Back from Mauritius!

Zonghe & I spent our last 8 days in Mauritius for our honeymoon!

Mauritius is a really beautiful place with crystal clear water & clean beaches.

We spent our time just relaxing on the beach, did some sea sports such as glass bottom boat tour (where we saw a huge sea turtle thru the glass), we also did canoeing, paddle boat and diving - I had 3 dives while Zonghe had 4 dives. It was expensive but the experience was wonderful. We saw a lot of Moray Eels & Sea Urchins, lotsa fish- esp Zebra fish, etc... We also saw a v pretty Lion Fish, clift-hanger starfish, a big octopus which was hiding in a hole, etc... Zonghe took quite a bit of underwater photos too. ;) One of the highlights was this bright luminous yellow fish with pulpy blue lips. Super cute, but no photo though.

We stayed at Legends, which was a very 'feng shui' oriented hotel. It was quite new- the place very clean and neat, staff are v friendly too. Throughout our stay there, we had very good food with very good service. ;) As we were on full board - all meals inclusive, we would take our lunch at the different themed restaurants there. We enjoyed the BBQ & Grill, Pizza & Pasta (La Bastide), etc... Dinner had different themes too, though most of the time was french cuisine. There was also Asian, Indian & Mediterranean buffet on separate nights.

We went to visit the Royal Botanical Garden & Port Louis on the Saturday that we were there. Port Louis (the capital) was quite pack with their locals, they've all come out to shop too. ;) We didn't managed to buy many things, just some t-shirts for the family and some spices. Zonghe bought a packet of salt back home. haha... Mauritius Salt.

In our honeymoon package, we had 2 excursions - one of which was the Catamaran Cruise-cruise on the east coast. It was a very relaxing cruise and we were really lucky to spot dolphins too. Was so excited to see dolphins in the ocean- they came up to the surface for just a bit, then they disappeared. But v cute. ;) We stopped by one of the island, where the beach had really fine sand. The current was strong, hence the water was very clear- the current took away all the sediments. We even did para-sailing there. It was really cool. ;)

The other excursion was to Coco islands. It's a v small island near the airport, so we rearranged it to be on the last day of our trip. [Legends was up north while the airport was down south, near the east coast- travelling from one end to the other took about 1 hr 15mins.]. Coco island was also owned by Naide Resort (the owner of Legends) and it's a very beautiful place. Very fine sand too. It was surrounded by lotsa corals- a protected area. We did snorkeling there and it was really beautiful- lotsa pretty corals and lotsa fish! Lunch was served at the island, BBQ lunch and it was really sumptuous!

And after which, we went to the airport early, before 5pm. We repacked our items, refresh ourselves a little and rested at the waiting area before checking in about 7.30pm for our 10.05pm flight back to Singapore. We arrived the next morning at about 9am Singapore time (5am Mauritius time). Zonghe's dad, mum & brother came to fetch us at the airport and we went for breakfast together. It's great to be home. We'd home-cooked lunch & dinner too. A good nap in the afternoon and a good rested sleep at night. ;)

A wonderful honeymoon and a great start to our married life together. ;)

Wedding!

It was a lovely wedding we had... the weather was fine and everything turned out really well for us. =)

We started the day really early at 5+am, make up started about 6.20am or so and my girl friends came over around 6.30am to prepare for the big day.

Our 'zhen xin lang' was quite mild, nothing unglam. haha... There was a bit of treasure hunt, some Q&A, some things to eat & drink and finally some singing & dancing before he can finally come into the room! =)

We'd a simple tea ceremony at my house then we went off to Zonghe's house. Over there, we'd lots and lots of relatives awaiting for us already (all went into hiding when we first went up)- so we went straight into our room first. After stepping out of the room, then we realised that there's really a lot of people at the house. =)

So tea ceremony took about an hour from 10.00am-11.00am. Afterwhich, the buffet lunch arrived and everyone had nice food. For the rest of us (brothers & sisters), we went down to the poolside (at the condo) to take photos together. I threw the hand bouquet and Grace caught it! hee hee! Well done! Managed to rescue the flowers before it touched the ground, nice catch!

About 3.30pm or so, we went over to M Hotel where Auntie Linda booked a club room for us. =) We rested for a while before going over to Noble House at about 5.15pm. Zonghe was busy co-ordinating with various people- restaurant staff, our helpers, etc... while I started my make up.

Then, there was a last minute rush, cos the make up artist suggested not to use the wedding gown to receive the guest, instead should use a tea dress. But I didn't have another dress (I'd only the wedding gown & a red evening gown), so I gave my bridal studio (Jazreel's Collection) a ring and the lady-in-charge (Marilyn) quickly went to get the purple colour gown which I used for my photo shoot. My mum went over to pick up the dress for me. So, I got ready just in time at about 6.45pm for the cocktail reception. Using a tea dress is a good choice, cos the reception was really crowded (and there were already people stepping on my dress , can't imagine if I was wearing my wedding gown.) =)

But glad I was there to receive the guests, that's the fun part of the dinner, I felt. =) Greeting my guests & taking photos together. =) Was v fun! Saw a lot of friends, some whom we've not met for ages. So, it was really very heart-warming for Zonghe & I.

Then the dinner started pretty promptly at 8.15pm. We were really glad that our guests all came on time. We did our first march in & it was the most amazing experience. A lot of familiar faces and they were cheering us on as we marched down the aisle.

Zonghe's speech was impromptu, but was really good. ;) Very proud of him.

Then he sang me a song on stage 'grow old with you'... so so so touched, then I started to cry. I didn't know that he'd a surprise for me.

The dinner ended about 11pm or so, it was a mad rush for us to take photos with 52 tables of guests, it was really a big crowd. haha... But we managed to complete all the table to table photo shoot. It was really great to see all our friends, all the way from Sec School, Zh's Band Friends, JC Claass & Frens (99S23!!!), HCJC Photographic Society friends (where we met), NUS-Bizad/Science/SOC/NOC friends, USP Prof & Friends, NUS Photographic Society, Diving Friends, ex-Colleagues (STL), Colleagues (Forbes), etc... =)

Thank you so much for coming everyone! Very touched that u all took time to come & join us for this very special event. =) Thank you!!! =)

Special thanks to all who have helped out in one way or another, special thanks to our family- it was really tough going through the preparations, everything you all have done for us is greatly greatly appreciated! =)

Today Zonghe & I went to test the sound at Noble House, picked up the gown n decorated the bridal car.

Back at home, everyone helped out to keep the house clean & neat. ;)

My last minute packing & spending some time with my room. haha...

Going to sleep soon, I guess. Looking forward to a new day tomorrow. ;)

2 Days to Wedding

2 days to wedding... very busy at home today packing up my room, helping to tidy up the house. ;)

Zonghe went for his hair cut today, took the car out for polishing and did some last minute shopping for things like pillows & bolster for the wedding.

After which, Zonghe came over in the evening, and we wrapped the Ang Baos for the wedding together. hee hee...

What else needs to be done for the wedding? ;) Think not that much left...

Tomorrow'll be a busier day, need to go down to Noble House for sound test, bridal studio to collect the gown & tie ribbon on the bridal car. =)

Yupz... Just 2 more days to go. ;) Really excited!

3 Days to Wedding

Today's a mad rush for Zonghe & I to quickly finish up our work and better concentrate on tying up the loose ends for the wedding. =)

On leave for the next 2 days to clean & pack up the house. My family & Zonghe's family have been cleaning the house and rearranging the furniture, etc... for the past few days. Quite ashamed that we didn't help out much... =( Too busy with work and preparations, etc...

Progress - today I went to the bridal studio to fit the evening gown - there was a bulging zip during the last fitting, so it's tailored to fit better. I went for dental today during lunch time too, keep my teeth sparkling clean for the wedding. =)

Dinner's seating arrangements are more or less finalised & we intend to do a sms reminder tmr evening to everyone. hee hee...

Just 3 more days to go! ;) V excited!!!

Watched 'The Wedding Singer' with Zonghe in our room tonight. =) Very romantic comedy. Zonghe rolled over the bed a few times, laughing out loud. haha. ;)

Did my final fitting for my gown tonight. I stayed the same size & shape since end Jan 08 when we did the photo shoot. ;) So, no need to make any alterations to the gown.

Finalised the seating arrangement w the restaurant through email today. ;)

A busy work day for me, Zonghe too... He worked till 8pm, poor thing...

Came back home today & received an Eygpt postcard from Dr Parwani, super happy. :) Received my penpal- Totoro's postcards too (Narnia ones- v nice!!!) and a note of well wishes from her... touched too....

Just 5 days left... Really excited! =)

6 Days to Wedding

1 week to Wedding

It's one week to wedding. =)

Feeling really excited & more or less ready for the big day.

The past few weeks, Zonghe & I were busy gathering our old photos for the photo montage, tidying up the guest list for the dinner.... making confirmations for lunch buffet, dinner's details, etc... =) Busy busy busy.

Nonetheless, we still managed to catch 2 movies together - 'Indiana Jones & the Crystal Skull' & also 'Narnia: Prince Caspian'.

Zonghe & I went swimming today & we played with our Olympus 1030 SW, which can go up to 10m under water. We put on the underwater casing & played w the camera in the water today. =) With the casing, we can bring the camera to a max depth of 40m. =) Our latest toy. ;)

Time just flies... =) Looking forward to the big day & a relaxing honeymoon to Maritius! Looking forward to more diving. And the diving group are planning another trip to Aur on 25th July 08. Looking forward to that too. It's great company, great fun! =)

2 BBQ - 1 Weekend. =)

A very busy weekend for us- we'd 2 BBQs! =)

On 31 May 08, Sat, we'd a gathering with our group of diving friends at Merawood Condo (Jiabin's house)- BBQ (American Style). ;)

We'd lotsa fun, lotsa food & lotsa drinks. =) Mike specially created a video out of our photos at Pulau Aur & we projected the video in the function room. Watching the video together, brings back lotsa wonderful memories. We're looking forward to the next dive trip, tentatively 25 July 08. =)

1 June 08, Sunday, we'd a Forbes BBQ Gathering at Zonghe's house at Edelweiss Park Condo. =) Got some of the ex-Forbes colleagues over to catch up with one another, we'd a wonderful evening & poolside BBQ. =) Some Stella Artois, Mint Baileys & Wine. And glorious food. =)

Forbes Outing to Sentosa II + Wu Bai Concert

10 of us from Forbes went to Sentosa for an afternoon of fun & games on Sat! We did this about a month ago, this time round, there were more of us- mainly Pam, Pauline, Pauline's bf- Richard, David, Kenneth, Partimers- Jingyuan, Samuel, Yew Aik & Zhongwei & me, of course...

We met at Harbour Front for lunch at about 12 noon, then we drove in to Sentosa - both David & Pam drove. =) Along the way, we picked up Kenneth, Pauline & Richard.

We parked at the Imbiah Lookout Carpark & took the Red Line down to Palawan Beach. =) We played frisbee (monkey) & beach ball (with water added to give it some weight)- Captain's Ball. Was really fun! =) The sun was bright & hot!

After leaving Sentosa at about 4.30pm (after shower n all), we drove to Tiong Bahru Market for early dinner, as all of us were hungry. Pam left with Pauline, Richard & Kenneth while the remaining 6 of us went for dinner together.

It started to rain as we were having dinner. We were all grateful for the good weather we had at the beach. As we finished dinner early at about 6pm, we decided to go to Marina Square to play Pool. So, we got 2 tables there to play. =) Yew Aik taught me a new game for 3 players. Each of us take a set of numbers, e.g. Yew Aik taking ball no. 1-5, me no. 6-10 & David no. 11-15. So these represent our lifeline, the aim is to keep your number safe on the table & hit all the other's in. It was quite cool. Something new I learnt. Thanks Yew Aik. haha... Beginner (me) is like that one, dunno much.

I left the group early to go for Wu Bai's Concert @ Suntec City. Met up with my brother, Jinyi, and I accompanied him for dinner. The concert started promptly at 8.20pm & lasted all the way to 11.20pm (whole 3 hrs). Wu Bai was super cool & super power with his guitar & his singing too. :D The concert was excellent & we had so much fun. The use of Violin in some of his remixed songs was superb, brings out a lot of feel. The violin actually complimented the guitars & drums pretty well. So impressed! ;)

And Wu Bai taught us his 'Flower Dance' towards the end of the concert & all of us dance along with him & his China Blue- Da Mao, Dino & Xiao Zhu. =) Both of us totally enjoyed the concert! =)

Got to Simei MRT at about 12 midnight & Zonghe fetched me for supper at Bedok. A long day... very tired but had lotsa fun! ;) My wonderful Saturday! =)

David's Last Day @ Forbes

Jeff Chang's Concert

Attended Jeff Chang's Concert with Zonghe. =) The Gorsk & Junsk also bought tickets to the concert. So, we'd dinner together at Expo before heading over to the Max Pavilion. =)

Jeff Chang's voice is still as crystal clear & powerful as before. Zonghe enjoyed the concert too as it was very well organised & the use of famous paintings made us imerse in a very 'cultural' evening. =) Zonghe also noted the use of different musical instruments and the effect created when East meets West. He felt that it was a very good mix. We totally enjoyed the concert. It's a sit-quietly-and-listen-to-the-singing/music concert, unlike the others I've been. It's really interesting & different experience. ;D And grateful that Zonghe was there to share the moment with me. =)

My wonderful weekend

Last Saturday was full of fun! (Though I went back to office to work in the morning...)

A group of us- mainly the Field Dept + me... we went down to Harbour Front for lunch before heading to Sentosa. (There's David, Kenneth, Pauline, Part-timers: Jingyuan, Yew Aik, Zhongwei & Sam) It's amazing how the 7 of us squeezed into 1 car & Pauline had to take train on her own into Sentosa... :( So, 8 of us, just nice 4 aside for the games. We played beach volley ball (without the net), frizbee (run until v shack) & monkey (5 vs 3 monkeys)...

In the evening, I left Sentosa & joined Zonghe & his NOC friends for dinner @ Cafe Iguana & had rounds of drinks there. We even went for supper- ba chor mee at the back of Central- BK Eating House. By the time we got home (thanks to Michelle for the lift back), it was already 1am. So tired out by then.

But Sat was really fun. =)

As for Sunday, almost the whole of Sunday was spent @ Expo. Zonghe & I went to the Natas travel fair, trying to check out places for our honeymoon. We were interested to go to Mauritius or the Maldives to have a relaxing honeymoon @ the beach. We found a package (@ Mauritius) we liked, but it exceeded budget by quite a bit. So, we're still considering if we want to do that. Prices will remain unchanged till end of the week, so we'll take some time to think through it. =)

Also at Expo were the Popular Book Store Expo sale & Watsons Mega Sale. The popular one was not bad, but rather crowded, we bought 2 books & some stationary. @ Watsons, the queue (to pay) was too long, so we decided not to buy the things we picked up. Yupz... Anyway, we had too many things to carry already.

By the time we got back home (Changi, which was v near to Expo), it was already 6+pm. We went for dinner together @ Bedok South then home sweet home. Zonghe & I watched Korean drama (on DVD) together- 'Yu Hee, the witch', super hilarious! Haha...

I'm married!

27 Feb 2008 marks our 8th year anniversary - being together as a couple. What way to better celebrate it then to take the next step forward together...

At 3.05pm, witnessed by our friends & family members, we took a sacred vow of unity in matrimony. One of the happiest moments of my life! =)

Want to thank my mum & dad for bringing me up, loving me and taking such good care of me for the past 25+ yrs. And all my brothers (+ June) who dote on me and always there for me.

And, all my friends for all their love, care, support and always there for me. Thank you all for your warm wishes!

And I thank Zonghe's mum & dad too, for all the endless love showered on Zonghe & I! =) And, I've got another brother now- Neng! =) Thank u for everything too! :D

Festive Mood of Chinese New Year

I'd a really great CNY, some visiting & lotsa time spent with my family... playing boardgames together (Settler's of Catan & Cluedo). So, it's great bonding time. And for some strange reason, we will play our 'Shrek' dvd every CNY. Last few years, my little nephew n nieces will come to visit n we'll play 'Shrek' or 'Shrek 2' to 'entertain' them. This year, they didn't come, but we watched 'Shrek 3' nonetheless. Hee...

Wedding Shoot by Jazreel's Collections

Yesterday was the day of our shoot. =) The weather was really good! :D

We started the day early at 10.30am at the studio, our makeup artist, Keith was already there and working on another bride who was doing her makeup before heading over to her ROM. =)

So, we spent the morning doing the makeup, till about noon. We started the shoot with the traditional Chinese Wedding costume then the 2 evening gowns. My red colour tube evening gown, I did the shoot in the studio but for the purple colour halter neck evening gown, we walked out to the shophouses nearby to do the shoot. =) Our photographer was Kelvin. He is very professional and knew exactly how to frame his shots and take the correct angle. He's also v good in teaching us how to pose. :D

Back in the studio, we did the shoot with the actual day wedding gown. Using the same gown, we had 2 hair styles. One with a white shimmering hat (more fun style) and the other with a veil (safer style).

At the same time, Zonghe was busy changing too. =) He brought along a white shirt, a red shirt, a blue stripped shirt and a pink stripped shirt (+ a purple tie). Zonghe looks so dashing! haha... :D

For the outdoor shoot, we went to Arab Street (near Beach Road). We were surprised that there were so many shops and shoppers there. =) So, we did a few shots with the shophouses. Then we went over to Punggol area that has a lot of lalang & beautiful trees. Our outdoor shoot lasted from 4.30pm to 7.30pm. It was short and sweet. =)

We went back to the studio to change out of the wedding gown and went for dinner at Maxwell market before taking a cab home. =) What a happening day. Very fun n adventurous! :D

Our Own Wedding Shoot

Zonghe & I did our own photo shoot last Sat (19 Jan 08). =) We did our trial makeup at our studio- Jazreel's Collection then we borrowed out a gown for our photoshoot. =) Our friends, Jiexiang & Corine helped us with the day's shoot. We started the shoot at about 3.30pm...

We went to Botanical Gardens first, it started to drizzle a little, but only for a short while. So we're really lucky to have good weather for the shoot. Both Zonghe n I q still cos not used to taking photos out in the open. haha... There were many people in the Botanical Gardens and there were very kind words from the public, like 'congratulations', 'wishing you two a happy married life', etc... =) So touched...

We headed over to the Padang to take photos at the Parliament House, then walked over to the Esplanade for some photos. =) Then changed out to a simple yellow-gold colour dress for a short shoot on the Esplanade roof... =) We ended the shoot about 8pm. =) Then proceeded to dinner together. =)

Zonghe n I are more or less settled to go Australia. =) Cos we've been flying pretty much the last 2 years, back and fro the States, so tot of doing somewhere nearer. hee hee... But we're not too sure what to do in Australia...

Wedding plans... be taking our own wedding photos next Sat. Very excited about it. And I'm not really prepared yet... Haha... I've not decided which accessories to go with the gown. Cos I'll be borrowing out 2 gowns for our own shoot next wk and the following weekend will be the shoot by the studio. =)

Went for Fish Leong's concert on 29 Dec 07, last concert of the year for me. =) Clocked 2 concerts within the same month for Dec- Show's on Stage on 1 Dec 07 & Fish Leong's Concert on 29 Dec 07. =)

Fish Leong's concert was superb. She was slow and steady. Sang so so so many of her love songs. =) She just stood there and sing her heart out... v carefully, very patiently, very deeply. =)

Vietnam Trip

2 Dec 2007, the day I flew off to Vietnam for my 8 days trip! =)

First night at Ho Chi Min City (otherwise known as Saigon). The local guide brought me to the coffee place (Window's Cafe) where it's v popular with Vietnamese. The place has just been newly renovated. V nice n posh. hee hee... Love the lighting, esp...

Day 4-5, we flew to central vietnam- Danang... =) First day was bright n sunny. The next 2 days were raining non-stop...

The next day where we visited the Nguyen Dynasty Palace. The remains of it actually... Many parts of it has been destroyed during the Vietnam War.

From day 6 - 8 of our trip to Vietnam, we flew north to Hanoi. From Hanoi, we took a ferry to Halong Bay, which boast of exceptional beauty of mother nature.

We lived on board the Huong Junk Boat for one night in the calm seas of Halong. We enjoyed really good seafood on board the Junk Boat. On board, we also played card games, tried fishing (but never caught anything) at night.

We climbed a small mountain at the Halong Bay area. A photo that I took with the local guide- Ah Xiang. =) She's a really sweet and fun lady to be with. =)

One of the beautiful caves we visited. It's blue because of the lighting. But most of all, I love the texture of this piece of cave wall...

We visited 'Zheng Guo Gu Shi' back at Hanoi. Some photos...

One of the busy markets in Hanoi. They've lotsa roses and other flowers there. Because of the cool climate, the flowers were really beautiful and sold very cheaply. Understand from the guide that 1 rose = S$0.02 only. And a nice bouquet all wrapped up is approximately S$1.50 only.

Amazed at the type of dry products they sell at the market. =) And the way they pack n display the goods. =)

Leehom was in town to promote his latest album 'Change Me' and also the new movie 'Lust, Caution' on 30 Sep 07. =) I went w Jiamin to his autograph session (managed to see him in close range) at J8. The day was packed with his fans and the place was almost overflowing. The heat and the screams were unbelievable. =)

Well, he is indeed gorgeous. haha... Some lovely photos to share, courtesy of Jiamin. Most importantly, Leehom's really really talented and he has written so many wonderful songs, so many that it's impossible to name. ('kiss goodbye', 'hua tian cuo', 'da cheng xiao ai', 'gai shi ying xiong', 'xin zhong de ri yue', etc....)

In this album, my favourites are 'luo ye gui geng', 'gai bian zi ji', 'ni shi wo xin nei de yi shou ge', 'wo men de ge', 'cockney girl' and many more... If u've not bought his album yet, strongly recommend u to buy it! It's great! :D

It's been a while since I updated my blog...

Life's pretty much been the same for me. ;)

Recently, started to go to Sentosa on Sat mornings for beach volleyball with Zh & our friends. It's really nice. The sand, the sun & the sea. haha...

Yupz, bought a lot of new CDs recently... Wang Leehom's latest album "改变自己" was released on Mon 16/07 (supposed to be out 13/07 but got delayed)... Really loved the album, waited ~ 2 years since his last album "盖世英雄" . Happy to see that he's written so many songs for himself in this album too. To note, the song "落叶归根" is really really nice. V touching... He's got a duet with S.H.E.'s Selina, which was very fun too- "你是我心內的一首歌".

Some of the other albums I bought recently includes S.H.E's "Play" album. Also not bad. Almost every song in the album was good. They'll be coming to S'pore next wkend. So excited to get to see them again. (Their last concert was earlier this year in S'pore).

Stefanie Sun's "逆光" is really good too. Loved almost every single song in the album. Really powerful! ;) Think Song writers are v impt to make an album good. Li Si Song & Li Wei Song are v power! Wrote most of the songs in the album. My fav from this album includes "我懷念的", "逆光", "安宁", "飘着", "需要你" and many more. Strongly recommend! ;)

Also bought Michael Buble's "Call me Irresponsible" album. Always loved bubbles. ;) haha... It's a good album too. Loved 'Everything' & 'The way you look tonight'... & many more...

Bought Wu Bai's latest compilation for my brother too. 2 CDs + DVD. ;)

Lotsa money spent on buying original albums. But v worth it! Must support original! ;)

Congrats Delicia & Julian

Attended my dear friend, Delicia's wedding dinner last night. It was really warm and sweet to see Delicia & Julian. Such a loving couple! They look so so so happy together & totally enjoying themselves. Delicia looked so beautiful & the gowns were lovely too. My favourite is actually the first night gown, silky white halter gown (as shown in the photo below).

I went a little late, cos the bus was not that fast & when I got to Jurong East MRT at 7.20pm, I suppose I just missed the Chevron Shuttle, so boarded the 7.40pm one and reached pretty late. :p

The company was great, saw many Bizad friends, been abuot 2-3 years since we last seen each other. Was really fun to catch up with them. I guess it's such event that we have a chance to all meet up. Esp happy for Joseph & Charlene, whose first baby girl (Charmaine) will be due next month! Congrats congrats!!!

The dinner was really sumptious. Very high quality & v big serving portions. Yummy. hee hee...

Recovered

Finally recovered from my fever, sore throat and cough. What a big mess. hee hee...

Abt 1 wk plus at the new office now. Starting to get more used to the rythm and pace of life at International Plaza area... Starting to get to know my colleagues more and learning more about the job itself.

It's an eye opener for me, embarking in the research field. But the path though still blur for me, I'll try my best & give my best shot at it. I hope this journey will be a fulfilling and rewarding one for me.

I still think it takes a lot of courage to step out of my comfort zone and the very cosy life in STL and embark on something that's so much more demanding and challenging. I guess life is like that... and we live only once, so must make the most out of it.

Still not used to the 1 hr 10 mins bus journey to or fro work. It's really far and tedious to squeeze with the morning or evening crowd to get home. Still haven't really sorted out that part yet. Tried reading on the bus today, but after 20mins, cannot make it already. Head starts to spin. So, probably just listen to songs on my ipod nano which Zonghe bought for me. ;)

There were 2 nights that I worked till 10pm due to Focus Group Discussion held in the evening at the office. Well... Though managed to get a cab back on the first night, it was still v tiring. The second night couldn't get a cab. The cab I called didn't wait for me. And when I re-dialed the hotlines, the lines won't get thru. =( Waiting at the IA taxi stand is like forever. That's one thing disappointing about working in shenton way...

Down with Fever

Yesterday was my first day at work...

Things went well, it's a small company with just 8 staff, so got to know them pretty quickly.

The feel was q different from that of the warehouse. Now I work on the 18th floor at the International Plaza, in a small office area. The view is ok, well lotsa concrete buildings around, but could see the sea & port, which is not bad.

Miss the greenish pasture of the naval base. Miss the smell of seawater near the coast. More impt miss the people from the warehouse.

Been just 1 day, but really miss everyone at CNW... Called back office to look for Mr Ong, Outbound office & Ms Neo...

Later in the evening, felt really feverish & cold, though I was wearing long sleeve shirt. Took a panadol & felt better. But later that night, my fever shot up really high... =( Even until today, still feel really warm.

Last night, Zonghe attended to me the entire night. He was busy sponging my forehead and making sure I was ok. I slept a bit, woke up to drink water & go to the toilet... but was in a daze, so I didn't realise that it's so so so late already & Zonghe is still up looking after me. He sat next to me the entire night, until I woke up at about 4.30am and realised the time & realised he's been up the entire night to make sure I'm ok. *touched.... So, quickly asked him to go & sleep.

Woke up about 9am this morning & still feverish. But a warm shower made me feel better... I've no idea why I'm running the fever... Is it because of the emotional strain I'm feeling? (Missing the friends & colleagues at STL?) Or am I overworked? Pushing myself too hard?

Farewell STL...

Today's my last day at work at ST Logistics Pte Ltd. It's a really emotional day for me, because I've got so attached to the workplace, the people & the job itself.

I'm really grateful for all the wonderful colleagues I have! Esp my guys from Outbound Dept- Tey AL, Kan YY, Lai ST, Bernard & Chui! Will never forget you guys, must keep in touch ok? Thank you so much for specially making me the cash card with our group photo on it & the personalised key chain & the yummy chocolate cake that you guys bought for me today.

And special thanks goes out to my dearest Mr Ong, who's always there for me, taking care of me and guiding me along the tough road in life. I've truly learnt a lot from him & he's like a mentor, a teacher, a fatherly figure to me. Thanks for everything Mr Ong! Will miss you so much too!

And, there's my wonderful boss, Mr Goh & my great colleagues, Hang Boon & Cassim. Thanks so much & my ex- colleagues, Alvin, Wenfeng, Kuna & Ronald who's taught me a lot at work. =) Hope you all are doing great. Take care & hang in there!!!

Jolin Tsai Dancing Diva Singapore Concert

Attended Jolin's Dancing Diva Concert last night & it was awesome. Jolin was awesome! It was a really cool concert & Raine & I had so much fun singing & dancing all night long. =)

She looked really pretty & sexy. The dance moves were slick and singing was sweet too. Love the many different looks she had on the stage. Really happening. I esp love the short bob-cut style & the encore one with the white hair accessory & nice white blouse with lace & shimmers.

My 2nd concert this year & I felt that it's totally worth the money too. =) Wanted to get Jolin's merchandise, but were sold out so quickly. So bo bianz... haha, gotta save up the money then. lolx...

Zonghe & I went for a dinner date at the Esplanade area.

Later that evening, Zonghe gave me a brilliant surprise!

He went on his knees and proposed with a beautiful ring!

I replied with a 'Yes, I do.'! =)

Zonghe specially ordered pink colour M&Ms from the States and it's personalised with a short message on each M&M. =)

Zonghe & I went to watch 'Phantom of the Opera' at the Esplanade on his birthday. The show was excellent! Though it's the 3rd time we're catching it already, but still very interesting & happening. There's some differences in the opera in Broadway (New York), Las Vegas & the one in S'pore. All are really great!

At the end of the performance, we went to Chocz to buy Bday cake. =) Luckily they're opened till 11pm. We bought a heart shaped chocolate cake & a box of 9 pcs chocolates. The gentlemen at Chocz was really sweet (think he's Jeremy... not tt sure), he gave us a pack of chocolate strawberries cos it's Zonghe's birthday. =)

Came home about 11.35pm to celebrate Zonghe's birthday with his family. They waited for us to come back home. oops... ;) So, we sang his bday song, cut the cake and opened a bottle of red wine. Had the cake + strawberry + chocolate and wine. Yummy!

Super touched that she remembered my birthday. So glad that we're still in touch, though we've not met each other for so many years already. Has it been a decade?

Yesterday was my 25th Birthday.

It was a lovely day. During the day, I received lotsa sms greetings from my friends. I'm so so happy & touched that they remembered my birthday. I really value each and every sms I received. In fact, my friends are mostly working now, so we get really busy. Despite that, they took time to send me a sms... aww....

Evening was spent quietly with Zonghe. We'd a nice dinner at home together with his family and also a mango birthday cake.

We spent the evening watching this movie- 'High School Musical'. It's a really interesting, fun-filled and lovely movie.

Back at work today, my department gave me a surprise celebration, buying me a huge chocolate cake! It was abuot 11.45am, just before lunch, they light the candles and turned off the lights. *touched*...

So, there was the cake distribution & eating... yummy yummy. It's the thought that really counts. And they're so so so sweet towards me.

Counting my birthday presents. I got this really cute card (Aristocats musical card) from Zonghe with a sweet sweet message... And got 2 DVD from a colleague; Another colleague gave me a note that says 'Happy Birthday'. Many other colleagues also shook my hand to wish me happy birthday! ;) And Mr Ong, my colleague, gave me a 25 hours watch (v beautiful- it's non-battery operated metalic strap watch with a white analog clock face). In the card, he wrote me this msg (It's really v nice of him.)...

Dinner Date

Zonghe and I went to Clarke Quay's Brewerks for dinner last Friday and it was great. American food and beer. Zonghe sure missed the good old American burgers.

We tried the beer samplers. It was yummy, we loved the 3rd glass from the left and the 2nd one from the right. Dun ask me for the name of the beer, cos I cannot remember already! Oops...

We couldn't finish the food. Too much already. Should have just ordered 1 burger to share. We ordered Calamari too, that's why we'd so much to eat. =)

We took a nice stroll along the S'pore River. Clarke Quay has changed so much. It's been such a long time since we've been there. So, it's really happening now. Zonghe suggests that we should do this (dinner date & drink at clarke quay) once a month, perhaps. =) I think it's a brilliant idea.

Some Thoughts

Came online tonight to download some photos from my camera, decided to post some photos on my blog.

I looked at my Aug 06 blog entry and reading it reminds me why I wanted to start a blog. It all began cos I wanted my life to be adventurous and happening. I wanted to live my life to the fullest. And I wanted to share things online. Share things about movies perhaps, things I enjoy doing… And one of the biggest reason why I started the blog was because I wanted Zonghe to be in touch with my life. Though he was thousands of miles away in the States, I hope by reading the blog, he will understand how my days are getting on.

I kept finding ways to keep myself occupied. To remove the boredom n loneliness. Haha… That’s why I started to blog. It’s a good way to remind myself what I’m doing about my life, things that I’m learning and things that are happening around me.

Then, these few months, the initial objective of starting the blog has diluted. I started to only post photos on the blog and there’s the song lyrics- songs that I liked. Songs that keep coming back to my mind. Hee hee…

I guess, the main reason was I have been really busy with life, with work, etc… Hopefully, I can spend more time to blog in the future. Can continue to share things I like, movies review maybe? Lolx…

Chinese New Year

Chu Xi (New Year’s Eve)

Chu XI is the busy day for us to do the last minute house cleaning. =) And in the evening, prepare a nice meal for everyone in the family to get together and enjoy. =) We cooked quite a spread for the reunion dinner- we had soup, hong zhao ji (our traditional food), fried fish, fried prawns, abalone, home made otak, vege, etc… =)

At about past midnight, Drr, Ba & I went down to Chinatown to get into the CNY mood. We squeezed thru a couple of streets filled with pple! Bought some food stuff at v good price. We bought packets of peanuts, CNY goodies (3 for $5), then there was more CNY goodies (1 for $1). Really good deal. The $1 ones are pretty yummy too.

It's quite a good experience. Pretty fun. But got home all hot and sticky, gotta shower and finally sleeping only at 3+am. hee hee...

Chu 2 (2nd day of the lunar new year)

Chu 1 (1st day of CNY) was house visit by many relatives to our place. On the 2nd day of the lunar new year, mother's good friends came for visit. We'd a fun time playing board games together (the children) while the mummy & daddy were busy chatting with each other.

Afterwhich, we went out for a nice dinner together.

The third day of the lunar new year... and also the last day of the public holiday. Hee hee, the few of us went over to Gor & June's new house for visit. =)

S.H.E Perfect 3 Concert

Attended SHE's Perfect 3 Concert yesterday evening and totally loved the evening at the Indoor Stadium! They were superb! Loved the singing, the romantic love songs... The dancing was hot too! And the sound, lighting, atmosphere was simply fabulous too. =)

Looking forward to seeing SHE in S'pore again. Gambatte SHE!
